The American occupation of the islands during World War II saw the sudden arrival of thousands of other “guests,” armed, weary and badly in need of a rest.  Once the island was taken, most lived in barracks or tents.  But there were special quarters, like this NATS Hotel on Kwajalein in early 1944, for visiting military officers.
